Restraints for Free-Standing Appliances.
Prevents free-standing appliances such as tables and desks with castors, multi-function copiers, trolleys, etc from moving during earthquakes.
New Zealand’s Standards Code requires that items weighing more than 40kg and located within 2 metres of the nearest door jamb must be restrained. In addition, any item whose maximum height is greater than 1.2 metres and which is in a frequently occupied area or within 3 metres of an escape route must also be restrained.
Furniture (and items on them) can also become ‘missiles’ during an earthquake.
The restraint kit contains a stainless steel saddle for mounting on floor or wall with a stainless braided wire which loops around the leg of the appliance and is then tightened by the toggle.
The wire can be held captive in the saddle (a great anti-theft aid) or by using the supplied carabiner, appliances can be moved as necessary.
Length of wire is 20cm by default.
